Every Antwerp Art Weekend, we present an OFF Program that spotlights temporary exhibitions and initiatives by artists, galleries, and institutions that are not regular Antwerp Art members, highlighting Antwerp's vibrant art scene that is forever in flux! The following 17 initiatives form this year's OFF Program and were selected through an open call:

/THE PLATFORM is a gallery focussed on supporting young up-and-coming talent. The Antwerp Art Weekend marks an important step for the gallery's future independence from VCRB Gallery, located on the ground floor of their original exhibition space. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, the gallery temporarily inhabits a new location, transcending the boundaries of its physical space with 'Made my way through soil and thorns', a solo exhibition by Dutch artist Tara-Eva Kuijpers Wentink.

12 is housed in a registered Art Nouveau gem in Antwerp's Northern district, het Eilandje. The building has been revitalized by global design firm AIM Architecture, with offices in Shanghai, Chicago, and now Antwerp. For their first exhibition, 12 invited Antwerp-based artist Yorgos Maraziotis to co-create an immersive installation that explores the idea of displacement as a catalyst for contemporary habitation, titled DISPLACED.

AAIMACHINE is the studio and gallery of artist Lieven Segers, in which public or private artistic interventions take place at an irregular rhythm. 'The Casa Lina Connection' is the first group exhibition at AAIMACHINE. Between 2002 and 2022, Lieven Segers regularly hosted meetings with artists and friends at Casa Lina, in Andalucia. Intended as an artists' resort, many artistic thoughts and actions have found their origin there, to which the exhibition nods nostalgically.

Archipel is an artist-managed workplace in the North of Antwerp, an area under urban development. Since the summer of 2023, Archipel has moved to its new location in the former ENGIE building. This site is currently occupied by 30 artists with various profiles, who are setting up their temporary workplace there. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, Archipel opens their permanent gallery space at this new location, where monthly exhibitions will be shown. Expect a series of multi-disciplinary, site specific and eclectic works by Archipel’s old and new members, exhibited at the former ENGIE site and on the shore.

Ballroom Project is a unique creative and commercial platform that provides a space for non-Antwerp based galleries to showcase their artists' works. The project employs a talented curator who curates an exhibition concept based on submissions from participating galleries. This approach aims to avoid the traditional 'art fair feel' by creating a unique and engaging experience for visitors. Throughout the years, Ballroom Project has become a must-see event for art lovers in Antwerp and beyond.

CAPS (Contemporary Art Projects), a platform with a specific focus on Belgian artists. CAPS operates as a nomadic initiative that settles in various locations in Flanders and Brussels and often develops temporary initiatives in collaboration with other organizations and galleries. During the Antwerp Art Weekend they present the group exhibition 'Ensor en Sortie'. The exhibition features works by 22 Belgian contemporary artists, and departs from the oeuvre of James Ensor (1860-1949), our country's first avant-garde artist.

CURRENT is an artist-run initiative founded on the understanding that an ever changing environment demands an equally fluid cultural response. Untethered by institutional constraints, they seek to experiment with new ways of connecting the public and the arts. They intend to do so by enabling the vast amount of talented artists, both local and international, to play with new modes of expression and communication, independent of discipline and background. For the Antwerp Art Weekend, its founding members Yuxi Lu, Jesse van Dun, Priscilla Gils, and Philip M B Lovric collaborated with artist and curator Hilde Borgermans.

DE SINGEL is located in a unique building on a multifaceted arts site. They connect communities with artists and art practices across the globe. Building on a fascinating artistic past, DE SINGEL invites a broad audience to experience music, theatre, dance and architecture in all their variety and to discover fresh, contemporary perspectives. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, they invite you to discover the installation 'Chorus in Rememory of Flight' by Julianknxx, and offer guided tours with curator Heidi Ballet. In these tours, you'll discover the permanent works by world-renowned artists across their campus.

From Me To You Space is an artist-run space in Borgerhout, founded by Maud Vande Veire and Emmanuel Depoorter. Growing out of the activities of From Me To You publications, their main focus lies on the presentation of artist books. For Antwerp Art Weekend, From Me To You Space has invited EDITIONS, a nomadic bookstore and project space for publications and performances, bringing together an array of independent publishers and self-published works from artists and designers.

Huiskamer, an art space housed within the self built home of Lot Doms and Bram Van Houtte in the residential commune of Deurne. Huiskamer was founded by Lot Doms as part of a reflection on her practice within the context of a home and its place within a family dynamics. Huiskamer presents its own work and organizes exhibitions that settle in the atmosphere of the house. Artists are invited to reinterpret the space and to temporarily become part of the family collective, among adobe walled surfaces, recuperated stone, found woods and selfmade furniture. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, they present their second group exhibition 'Brood en Poppenspelen'.

INFINITIF is a Belgian artists' book publisher that functions as a platform for creating, publishing, distributing, presenting artists' publications and making exhibitions. INFINITIF was founded in 2021 by artists Jelle Martens and Tim Bruggeman. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, they present 'À Reclasser', a group exhibition at the impressive location of the historic Keizersbastion, in collaboration with Werkplaats Walter, Dienst Archeologie Antwerpen and InterLinie.

Jacobs’ Booth encompasses a unique cubical exhibition unit and digital stage. Each time, an invited curator presents a singular artwork that undergoes profound analysis and contextual framing within the artist’s oeuvre and broader historical context. Jacobs’ Booth’s objective is clear: enabling an in-depth exploration of a single artwork through an alternative exhibition model. For its inaugural exhibition, Jacobs’ Booth presents ‘Pocalyeap’— an exclusive preview of the work ‘Derivative Messiah’ by the award-winning South Korean artist Sinae Yoo, selected by the Italian curator Domenico de Chirico. Pocalyeap marks the up-and-coming Sinae Yoo’s debut in Belgium.

Kunst in Huis functions as a library for works of art, with the opportunity to borrow them, allowing you to live with inspiring pieces for an extended period of time. It's an ideal formula to discover fascinating works by contemporary artists from Flanders and Brussels. Kunst in Huis annually renews their collection with a selection of 20 to 30 young artists who are at the start of their career. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, you can meet three of them in the group exhibition 'Who('s) care?? Artist(s) care!!'

OUT OF SIGHT was founded in 2018 by artists Dušica Dražić and Wim Janssen. With the start of the Antwerp Art Weekend, OUT OF SIGHT proudly opens their long awaited new location with an extensive program: On the first floor of their new venue, you can visit 'The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas' by Ursula, an Antwerp based collective of female artists working with the moving image. Also on view is 'I’M SORRY, CAN YOU MOVE, CAUSE’ I NEED THIS CROWBAR', a durational performance in which the artist Dina Rončević, together with a group of girls, calmly deconstructs a car. OUT OF SIGHT invited Doplgenger to present 'Images of Past as Images for the Future', a part of an artistic research project called 'Fragments Untitled' that examines the media’s participation in the construction of historical narratives. This presentation will be activated by a lecture-performance on May 17.

SECONDroom is an independent platform that has been organizing single-day exhibitions since 2006. The initiative was founded by Christophe Floré in his private house in Brussels. A room on the first floor was transformed into an exhibition space where a different artist was given carte blanche to show work during a public exhibition every Saturday. For Antwerp Art Weekend, SECONDroom joins forces with artist Guillaume Clermont. Together with curator Christophe Floré, they present a participatory in-situ installation made of cardboard boxes entitled 'Attempt of Rescue (Warehouse III)'. Through an open call, artists and visitors are invited to immerse and leave objects in boxes of the installation.

Off the Wall is the third edition of SUPERSTUDIO organized by Stellar, a project by visual artists Katleen Vinck, Tom Volkaert, and choreographer Marc Vanrunxt that connects sculpture, dance and performance. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, no less than 15 artists or artist duos were invited to participate in Off the Wall. The choice of artists is intergenerational and eclectic, with an "Off the Wall spirit" that is the connecting factor.

The Oracle is an artist-run gallery founded by Annea Lyvv Dreisz (Sylvia Vandeurzen). During the the Antwerp Art Weekend, the gallery functions as a bakery where a selection of artists present homemade bread in a performative way. Lucky viewers can stop by the gallery for their 'Daily Bread' during the AAW. The exhibition proves that the artistic and cultural relevance of bread is as strong today as it ever was. Appearing all throughout art history, bread has carried great symbolic value, while being part of human history for centuries.
